The book presents the direct stiffness method with a conceptual formulation of the analytical model and the discrete model of reticulated structures (structural models formed by bars). The analytical formulation considers effects of axial behavior, bending behavior (including shear deformation) and torsional behavior of bars. The formalism presented in the formulation of the discrete model is such that a generalization of the direct stiffness method, applied to reticulated structures, is done for the finite element method, applied to continuous media.
